Marantz 2330B Gallery

The Marantz 2330B appears to have two main filter capacitors, but it actually has four. Each of the filter caps is actually a dual-capacitor (it has two capacitors in one can). This is a bit of a problem, since two-section filter capacitors are no longer widely available. So, we have been gutting the original cans and putting new capacitors inside. The original, gutted cans are shown in the image above.

Each filter cap has two 6800 uF sections. That seems kind of puny for a 130 Watt / channel receiver, so we stuff something a little bigger back into the cans.

Like just about all Marantz products from the era, the 2330B is a sharp-looking instrument.

Founded in the 1950's by Saul Marantz, Marantz products arguably peaked in the 1970's, particularly with their line of 2200 series receivers. Today, the 2200 series receivers are immensely popular with audiophiles and audio collectors. Along with their power amplifiers, preamplifiers and tuners, Marantz is practically the definition of 1970's home entertainment. They won't tell you this on their website, but, unfortunately, by the time the early 1980's came along, most Marantz products were a mere shadow of their predecessors.
