Bryston 4B Gallery

This is an early (but good) Bryston 4B. Bryston has redesigned the 4B several times since it was introduced in the later 1970's.

The 4B has separate EI power transformers (and therefore separate power supplies) for the left and right channels. Each channel has 2 10000 microfarad filter cans. The power supply rails are ±75 VDC. The 2.2 uF film capacitors shunted across the filter cans are not stock.

This is not the stock lid. If I recall correctly, the stock lid does not have any air holes.

The Bryston 4B is bridgeable for mono operation. It rated for up to 800 watts(!) output into 8 Ω when bridged.

The power cord on this amplifier is not stock. It originally had a clumsy coiled power cord.

The faceplate is adorned with three LEDs. The centre, green LED is the power indicator. The red LEDs are the left and right clipping indicators. This particular amp delivered more than 250 watts per channel before clipping.
Located in Peterborough, Ontario, Canada, Bryston manufactures refined high-end audio amplifiers, preamplifiers, loudspeakers and other superb audio equipment for the discerning audiophile.

A circa 1980 Bryston 4B power amplifier. Conservatively rated at 200 watts per channel, the 4B is a great sounding amp with lots of drive and good control of the loudspeaker. You can check out the specs here.
